Intern Class — What the Free Default Actually Gives You

The best free pick by default — and genuinely fine to keep while you learn. Extra starting sanity is margin for mistakes, which is exactly what a new player needs.

How it plays

The Intern's whole kit is one number: bonus starting sanity. At level 3 you begin every shift at 81% instead of 61%, which in practice means you can eat an anomaly mistake or a monster hit and still be standing. It also means you can skip coffee early and leave it for teammates running thinner margins.

Two Intern-specific quirks worth knowing. It's the only class with color variants — in a multiplayer shift, Interns show up green, blue or pink so players can tell each other apart. And the community has a running theory that the Intern itself is an anomaly, because its face doesn't match any other character or any normal animal face in the game.

Key perk at a glance: Only class with color variants (green, blue, pink).

FAQ

Is the Intern class good?

For a free class, yes. Up to +20 starting sanity (81% total at level 3) is real survivability, and there's no cost pressure to switch until you know which paid playstyle suits you.

Why do Interns have different colors?

It's the only class with color variants (green, blue, pink alongside the default light orange) — added so multiple Interns in one shift can tell each other apart.

Is the Intern secretly an anomaly?

Unconfirmed, but it's a popular community theory: the Intern's face doesn't resemble any other character or any normal animal face in the game, which fans read as deliberate.
